Tony Morris is a professor of sport and exercise psychology at Victoria University, Melbourne. Raised and trained in the United Kingdom, Prof. Morris was a leader in the development of the discipline there during the 1980s, being among the first sport psychologists to work systematically with national teams. In 1990 he moved to Australia, where he played a major role in the professional development of sport psychology in Australia, becoming the first Chair of the College of Sport Psychologists, the national organization, based within the Australian Psychological Society. He has taught and conducted research widely in the field, and his main research interests are imagery, stress and anxiety, motivation, exercise for health, career transitions, and coaches and psychology. Prof. Morris has also contributed to the international development of sport psychology as Secretary General, Treasurer, and current President of the Asian South Pacific Association of Sport Psychology (ASPASP) and as a member of the Managing Council of ISSP. | |
