Ronald Althouse is a professor of sociology, a past chairperson of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, and director of the Survey and Research Center at West Virginia University. He received his MA and PhD in sociology from the University of Minnesota. Althouse’s research interests and publications have focused on worker’s risk and worker’s health, health care delivery, and health systems. He has contributed to the literature on athletic participation and is committed to efforts focused on social justice in sports. In his leisure time, he enjoys bicycling and jazz, and is an avid science fiction reader.
